Gatsby

So far in the Great Gatsby readers have had glimpses of Nick and Jay's friendship. Whether or not the relationship between these two characters is valid is dependent on (in my eyes) how much Gatsby makes use of Nick's ability to bring Daisy around. I believe that Gatsby can only ask so much of Nick before it seems that he is using him to only his benefit. On the other hand, Gatsby is very wealthy and has many things that he can use to his advantage to entice Nick. In chapter 5 readers experience a scene where Nick indirectly sets up a date with Daisy and Gatsby. (Even though Nick was influenced to arrange the date). This is all Gatsby ever wants in the book thus far; to see Daisy. Nick, on the other hand, wants to make a career. Nick has no money. Nick barely has anything besides his "ability to be approachable". What will Gatsby do to return Nick's favors?
